Cape Town based food technology group Synercore Food Holdings announced today the incumbent Chairman Mr. Kobus Nel will step down from the role as Chairman of the Board, however will remain as an independent Non-Executive Director.
Mr. Nel, co-founding member and CEO of Fairtree Capital will be relocating to the Netherlands to implement the growth strategy of Fairtree’s European business plan and stated “my desire to remain as a director at Synercore is testament to my opinion that the food sector in general creates interesting investment opportunities, and this together with being part of a business researching solutions to global food security that will help deter future poverty”.
The Synercore Board further announce Mr. Hannes Wagener will fulfil the role of Chairman with immediate effect. Mr. Wagener, B.Eng. Mech. (Ind.) has been an Independent Non-Executive Director on Synercore’s Board since November 2016. He has extensive chairmanship experience including previous roles for 5 African companies of Parmalat. According to Mr. Wagener he states: “I’m honoured to be proposed and accepted as Chairman of the Board at Synercore. I’m pleased that Mr. Nel will remain as a Non-Executive Director as his input has always been clear and concise with great consideration to ethics and people. I will continue to facilitate efforts to strengthen stakeholder relationships, culture and governance”.
