Appointment of Alex Zabbia as Group Executive Innovation and Quality within Synercore Food Holdings

Synercore is pleased to announce that Mr. Alex Zabbia will join Synercore Food Holdings in the role as Group Executive for Innovation and Quality within African Food Industries from the 1st July 2017.

Alex studied at the University of Pretoria where he obtained his M.Sc. degree in Food Science cum laude.  His Master’s degree focussed on the undesirable sulphur and carbonyl flavour compounds in UHT milk, which included the registration of a patent based on his research (“Immobilised protein for scavenging flavour compounds in packaging material”). After completing his degree in 2009, he started working as a Research Assistant at the Sensory Research Division at the Food Science Department at Pretoria University and in January 2010 accepted a position as an Innovations Manager at Flavourome. In 2011 Alex joined Danisco as an Applications Specialist and during his employment at Danisco, later DuPont (Nutrition & Health), he managed the Dairy & Beverage Innovation Team and later focused on a Global Application Specialist role within Dupont’s Industrial Bio-science brewing division.  In 2016 he accepted a position as a Commercial Manager for Mane flavours, based in Cape Town, with the focus on flavour sales and key customer account development in the Dairy and Beverage industry. Alex joined Synercore Food Holdings in 2017 where he is currently responsible for all activities related to Innovation and Quality over the greater group.

Alex’s appointment underlines the philosophy of Synercore Food Holdings to appoint the best talent available.  He is an exceptional individual and his meteoric rise as a recognised specialist in the food industry is testimony to his wealth of knowledge and leadership abilities.
